Colorography

2021, tulle, environmental size

This work is part of a research project that began in 2019 during the residency Border Collie in Slovenia. The aim of the project was to find a way to extract the beautiful emerald green of the river Isonzo.
During the process, various attempts were made to extract a pigment from the river’s stones, bacteria, and algae. However, all of these attempts either failed or produced colours very different from the one of the river. Through this process emerged an awareness of the complexity of the interactions that generate this living colour.
The focus of the project gradually shifted from the individual components of the river to the relationships among them, which are the true source of what we perceive. This work is an homage to the river Isonzo and a celebration of colour as the result of constant interaction.
