Venice is the city of dreams
2017, documentation pictures of the clapping
The starting point of this project was the double meaning of the word *atrium*, considered not only as an architectural space but also as an anatomical, physical, and psychic space. The structure of the atrium presupposes, in those who cross it, a condition of transience and waiting manifested in the form of expectation.
I visited several atriums, where I silently listened to my heartbeat in order to immerse myself in their characteristic atmosphere. After listening for a few minutes, I reproduced the same rhythm in the space by clapping my hands.
I used applause as a contrasting element because it usually indicates a conclusive moment, the end of a wait. In this way, it makes possible the coexistence, within the same space, of dream and wakefulness.
