Floaters
2016, carved tulle, various sizes
The overlapping of different layers of tulle allows a parallelism to be created between the mechanisms of light and vision. As a semi-transparent material, tulle enables an interaction between the various layers, from which colors emerge that are not physically present in any of them. We perceive these tones thanks to a reworking carried out jointly by our brain and our visual system.
This psychological process of synthesis invites a reflection on the definition of reality. How is it possible that something material, physically present in space, generates something immaterial?
This body of work reflects on the relationship between reality and vision, and represents an attempt to deepen the understanding of the limitations and interactions between them.
